Audrey Powne is a Naarm/Melbourne-born, UK-based producer, trumpeter and multi-instrumentalist. A fixture of the Melbourne jazz and soul scenes before relocating to London, she signed to BBE Music and released her self-written, self-produced debut album From the Fire in 2024 — all songs, string arrangements and production her own work. Gilles Peterson called her "The Very Brilliant Audrey Powne," and singles from the album were playlisted on BBC Radio 6, BBC Radio 2 and Jazz FM.
"Stay Awake" is taken from her second album Bodies of Water, out September 25, 2026 on BBE. Where the debut explored fire, the follow-up turns to water — vulnerability, responsibility and human interconnectedness — with Stay Awake among its more socially conscious moments, confronting political polarisation and the emptiness of language without action.
